Thalian Hall's

Volunteer Corps

Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts is proud to partner with individuals and families in the community who wish to volunteer their services on behalf of our organization and facility. Thalian Hall volunteers are a vital part of our operation through the valuable contribution of their time and commitment.

The primary volunteer opportunity available at Thalian Hall is the Usher Corps. In many ways, ushers are the public face of Thalian Hall, ensuring that every patron has the best possible experience. The Usher Corps assists house management by collecting tickets, serving concessions, assisting in seating location and handicap access, providing information and assisting with hospitality services for visiting artists.

Usher training is typically held on the first Monday of each month at 5pm. This 30 minute orientation provides the basic introduction to volunteering at Thalian Hall. New ushers are partnered with experienced volunteers to allow them to become more familiar with procedures and policies. Volunteers are allowed to register to work any events of their choosing and are able to view those performances free of charge. There is no minimum number of events required to remain a member of the Usher Corps.

The only skill necessary is the willingness to assist in providing a positive experience for theatre patrons at Thalian Hall. Volunteers are asked to wear black slacks or skirt and white blouse for ladies and black trousers, white dress shirt and solid color tie for gentlemen. This is very helpful to patrons in recognizing those who can provide them with assistance.
