SHELL YEAH

Director: Sam Graff / 5:27

Producer: Sam Graff

A musician, his shells, and the surprising sounds they create.

Magic Brown Artist

Director: Dinesh Das Sabu, Victor Yañez-Lazcano / 13:07

Producers: Dinesh Das Sabu, Victor Yañez-Lazcano

Visual artist, Victor Yañez-Lascano, makes work inspired by his experience as a Mexican American son of immigrants. When filmmaker Dinesh Das Sabu tries to make a (seemingly) simple documentary portrait of his process while at an artist's residency in Roswell, New Mexico, they are both pulled into a surreal hybrid of documentary form addressing what it means to make art while being brown.

The Conscience Files

Director: Brian Bolster / 13:30

Producer: Brian Bolster

For some visitors to Arizona’s Petrified Forest National Park, the temptation to smuggle out pieces of petrified wood as cherished keepsakes is irresistible. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on the party), that act and the retention of such treasures is long-rumored to be cursed – prompting the return of hundreds or more of these “souvenirs” each year.

Once Upon a Wetland

Director: Elizabeth Miller-Derstine / 16:00

Producers: Ian Kibbe, Elizabeth Miller-Derstine

As restrictions tighten across the country, Durham, North Carolina preps for the annual Beaver Queen Pageant. This campy, un-beaver-lievable celebration of LGBTQIA activism, environmental conservation, and outrageous critter cosplay continues on despite the adversity.

Dancing in Tomorrowland

Director: Jakob Roston / 15:40

Producers: Nazanin Nemetollahi, Grace Vincent

In this fantasia of a 1980s gay rights theme park documentary an unsung teen activist fights to overturn Disneyland’s ban on same-sex dancing.
