In my center, a cyborg seed

FRI · NOVEMBER 22 · 2024 · 8:00 PM · FILMMAKERS LOUNGE

In my center, a cyborg seed explores questions related to the future, divination and transformation. Inspired by Peruvian Pallar Moche, an ancestral black and white ‘oracle bean,’ and the human body in the post-human age, this performance deals with the algorithmic and the divine.

In my center, a cyborg seed features AI generated imagery and sound, motion-capture performance and two performers. These come together to explore the cyborg seed-body, questioning how we define technology in relation to mortality and transcendence.

Directed by Peruvian, Miami-based artist Roxana Barba, this work draws from ancestral Peruvian cosmology, to explore technological futures that value indigenous-based knowledge.

In my center, a cyborg seed is one of six 2022 Knight New Works and a recipient of a 2024 NALAC Fund for the Arts.
