It's 1977 and Disco is King. Well ... Queen. In downtown Manhattan, a gay off-off-OFF Broadway theater is funded by Mercury Messages, a hole in the wall telephone answering service. With the arrival of cheap answering machines, an altered economy, and differing desires, only one question remains for the artists running the theater: Will heartbreak signal the end, or just another beginning? Parental advisory: adult language and situations, laughter and tears.
Mercury is an original play written by Wilmington’s own Lee Lowrimore. This will be the world debut of this funny, irreverent, and heartfelt story about friendship, love, and making sure that the show does indeed go on!
