    Many parking options are convenient to Thalian Hall, with two parking decks immediately across 3rd Street and ample street parking in the surrounding area.

    The Chestnut Street parking lot adjacent to Thalian Hall has limited visitor parking, with some spots reserved 24/7 for County and City officials. Be sure to read signage carefully as some spots may have been reassigned since your last visit.

  • Pre-Show Dining

    If you are visiting Downtown Wilmington for a performance, we hope you’ll have the opportunity to spend a few days with us, or at least enjoy a meal in our wonderful city.



    The Center is located in beautiful Downtown Wilmington, within walking distance of many wonderful restaurants, hotels, and bars. Both Wilmington Downtown, Inc. and the Wilmington and Beaches Convention and Visitors Bureau are good resources to help you choose where to stay or dine.

    Thalian Hall forms the east wing of Wilmington's impressive City Hall and is located 4 blocks east of the Cape Fear River in Wilmington's historic central business district.



    Thalian Hall is in walking distance to a number of fine restaurants.



    With construction under way on the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge be sure to check traffic conditions before you leave, arrive early, and dine with some of our restaurant partners before enjoying show the show.

    Thalian Hall hosts over 700 events every calendar year ranging from theatre, to film, to community meetings and events, to private parties.  



    Thalian Hall produces our Main Attractions Series, Pied Piper Theatre, and co-produces the Cinematique Film Series.



    Other productions at Thalian Hall are produced by our community partners and rental clients.

  • Alcoholic Beverages

    No alcohol may be brought into Thalian Hall. Beer, wine, and mixed drinks (select events only) may be purchased inside Thalian Hall for most events. All persons must be age 21 or older and provide legal identification prior to purchase. Purchases are limited to two (2) beverages at a time. Management has the right to refuse service at any time and sales can be terminated at any time at the discretion of Thalian Hall. Typically, alcohol sales end shortly after the final intermission or 60 minutes prior to the end of the event. 

  • Animals

    Animals or pets of any kind are prohibited with the exception of service animals for guests with disabilities. Service animals are welcome inside the building and must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. If you intend to bring a service animal to the building, please notify your ticket representative at the time of purchase so that an aisle seat may be reserved for you.

  • Cameras, Photography, & Video Recording

    • Photography and video recording are prohibited by almost all of the events that Thalian Hall hosts.
    • All electronic devices (cell phones, smartphones, tablets, digital cameras) must be turned off before the start of the show. The light from phones is distracting to others throughout the seating area.
    • Cameras with a detachable lens are never allowed at Thalian Hall, and for most shows, no cameras of any kind are allowed including small point-and-shoot cameras.
  • Door Opening

    The time doors open will vary from event to event. Typically, the lobby opens one hour before the event start time, and the seating area/event space opens 30 minutes before the event start time.

  • Dress Code

    While going to Thalian Hall is certainly a special occasion, there is no required dress code other than we do require shoes and shirts.



    You'll probably be most comfortable in casual business attire, but you’ll often see people in jeans, khakis, and sometimes even shorts. Some guests enjoy dressing up and making a special night of it, and you can too, but most of all we want our guests to be comfortable.



    We would ask you to politely consider other guests’ possible allergic reactions when applying fragrances like perfumes or colognes, as performance spaces are closed areas with many people in close proximity to each other.

  • Drop Off

    There is a pick-up and drop-off area directly in front of the main doors in the Chestnut Street lot. Limousines, buses, and cars will be allowed to drop-off and pick-up in this area, but vehicles are not permitted to park there for extended periods.

  • Elevators

    There is an elevator in the main lobby to reach the Dress Circle, Ruth & Bucky Stein Studio Theatre, and the Grand Ballroom. 



    The Dress Circle and the Ruth & Bucky Stein Studio Theatre do have steps. However, there is accessible seating in the Ruth & Bucky Stein Studio Theatre.

  • Firearms

    Firearms and/or Concealed Handguns, with or without a concealed handgun permit, are NOT permitted at Thalian Hall. If any guest arrives at the facility with a firearm or handgun, you will be instructed to return the weapon to your car. Thalian Hall does not have a weapons check-in, and we will not take possession of firearms under any circumstances.

  • First Aid

    Guests in need of emergency first aid should contact the nearest Thalian Hall staff member for assistance.

     

  • Guest Courtesy

    Thalian Hall is committed to providing an enjoyable family atmosphere. In order to maintain an enjoyable and safe environment, we request that all guests be courteous to those around them and abide by all theater policies and regulations. Guests using foul language or appearing intoxicated will be ejected from the theater. Guests wearing obscene or indecent clothing will be denied entry. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times. Noisemakers of any type are prohibited. Guests who engage in inappropriate behavior will be removed from the theater.



    Thalian Hall staff have been trained to intervene where necessary to help ensure that the above expectations are met, and guests are encouraged to report any inappropriate behavior to the nearest usher, security guard, or Thalian Hall staff member. Guests who choose not to adhere to these provisions will be subject to ejection without refund, revocation of future tickets and may also be in violation of city ordinances resulting in possible arrest and prosecution.
