A Benefit for Nick Fenner

Grand Ballroom

Wednesday · May 28 · 2025 · 7:30 PM

The Comically Impaired, Wilmington's most often retired comedy improv troupe, returns to the stage to celebrate their 31st Anniversary and to benefit local theatre technician Nick Fenner. Nick has been a dedicated employee of Thalian Hall for many years and has helped put on hundreds of shows. He’s a vital part of the theatre community and needs our help. He has decompensated liver disease, which has caused cirrhosis, ascites (fluid in the belly) chronic liver failure, and Hepatic encephalopathy, which causes a build up of ammonia that goes into the brain and causes confusion, lethargy, slurred speech, and shaking. He will eventually need a liver transplant. The Comically Impaired will be donating all proceeds from this performance to Nick to help cover his expenses.

The Comically Impaired have been performing for audiences in Southeastern NC for thirty-one years. The Comically Impaired entertain their audiences through the use of Improvisational Comedy. This means that they get suggestions from their audiences and incorporate these suggestions into short sketches that are created on the spot, with no rehearsal or time to prepare. Basically the audience writes the show then watches it be created right in front of their eyes!
