Right in the Eye (En plein dans l’œil) is an immersive concert/cinematic experience comprised of twelve short films by Georges Méliès, a master of early cinema and a wizard of special effects. Many are familiar with his dazzling and pioneering film work from the hit 2011 Martin Scorsese movie Hugo. On stage, during the screening, the Alcoléa et Cie Ensemble (comprised of three musicians) plays some fifty different instruments, including rare, unique, and hand-built ones.
Acclaimed French composer and musician Jean-François Alcoléa has written the original score, which unfolds in perfect symbiosis with the creative genius of Méliès. Poetic, playful, and filled with surprise and delight, Right in the Eye is a great show for children, adults, and everyone in between who loves the sweet madness of early cinema and exciting contemporary music.
