In the subway, Gabey falls in love with a poster of Miss Turnstyles and is determined to find the girl of his dreams in a city of millions. Chip and Ozzie join the search but are quickly distracted. Chip gets taken for a ride by enthusiastic cab driver Hildy Esterhazy, and Ozzie is distracted by engaged anthropology student Claire de Loon. Featuring a rambunctious, beautiful score by Leonard Bernstein, a wacky book and wonderful lyrics by Betty Comden and Adolph Green, and show-stopping dances based on Jerome Robbins’s original choreography, On the Town hums with bounding energy. You’ll be whisked back to a time when “New York, New York” was a wonderland of pleasure, romance, and hot fun as the cast of singing sailors hits the city like fireworks.

This funny and delightful Tony-award winning musical is divided into two very different acts. Act One is traditional: Cinderella goes to the ball and captures the heart of the prince, Jack climbs the beanstalk and slays the giant, Little Red Riding Hood is saved from the wolf, and Rapunzel escapes her lonely tower. Meanwhile the Baker and his wife, on a quest to break the curse they are under, weave their way through the storybook characters to collect a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, a slipper as pure as gold, and hair as yellow as corn. As intermission approaches, all wishes have been granted and happily ever after is at hand. Act Two, however, deals with what happens after happily ever after – the consequences that traditional fairy tales ignore and the responsibilities that come with getting what you want. Together both acts create an unforgettable show that brings new meaning to the stories we tell our children.

Passionate and joyous, Rent is a pop culture phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates. Set in the East Village of New York, this classic musical tells the unforgettable story of a group of young artists falling in love, finding their voices, and living for today. How these young bohemians negotiate their dreams, loves, and conflicts provides the narrative thread of this compelling and memorable show. Rent is loosely based on the Puccini opera, La Boheme; the tuberculosis plague of the late 19th century is replaced by the modern-day plague of AIDS, but where La Boheme romanticizes death, Rent celebrates life.
