Performance in the Studio Theatre

Located in the north wing of Thalian Hall, the 2nd floor Studio Theatre is a traditional “black box” theatre. Because of its capacity for a variety of seating configurations, audiences are treated to traditional “proscenium-style” productions, “thrust” seating (in which the audience is seated on three sides of the stage,) and arena seating, popularly known as “theatre-in-the-round.”

The main feature of this venue, however, is the intimacy of the events it hosts. With a maximum capacity of 100 audience members seated in close proximity to the stage, the wall between performer and audience is diminished and at times entirely erased, making for compelling and spellbinding performance.
