Chestnut Street Parking Lot

The parking lot on the Chestnut Street side of the Thalian Hall/City Hall building is reserved for the staff of New Hanover County and the City of Wilmington during business hours from 8 am until 5 pm, Monday through Friday. During those hours there are 30 minute visitor spaces available for ticket buyers visiting the Center Box Office.

During the evenings and on weekends the Chestnut Street parking lot is available for patrons attending events in the Thalian Hall/City Hall complex at no charge.

On Street Parking

On-street parking meters are monitored on the east side of 3rd Street from 8 am until 5 pm Monday through Friday and cost 75 cents per hour. There is a two-hour maximum on most streets. Revenues from the meters go to support the improvement of existing parking decks and the construction of new ones. Parking is free in metered spaces after 5 pm on the east side of 3rd Street. It remains in effect on the west side of 3rd Street until 6:30PM.

Library Parking Deck

The New Hanover County parking deck holds 650 cars and is located next to the Public Library at Third and Chestnut Streets. It is convenient to Thalian Hall-City Hall. The entrance is on 2nd Street between Chestnut and Grace Streets. The first hour is free. There is also free parking for library patrons. The hourly rate is $1 with a $5 daily maximum. Parking is free after 5 p.m. and on weekends.

Monday-Friday, 7 am-5 pm: First hour free, $1/hour, $5 maximum.
Monday-Friday after 5 pm: Saturdays, Sundays and holidays free.
Monday-Sunday monthly rate $40.

Second Street Deck

The City of Wilmington owns the 2nd Street parking deck across from City Hall with entrances on 2nd Street, between Princess and Chestnut streets, and from 3rd Street between the BB&T and CCB bank buildings. There are spaces for 393 cars. The first hour is free.

Monday-Friday, 7 am-5 pm: First hour free, $1/hour, $5 maximum
Nightly parking is available Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights for a $5 flat fee for cars entering between 9 pm and 4 am. Parking at other times is free.
Monday-Sunday monthly rate: $40.
