Thalian Hall Docents

The Thalian Hall Center for the Performing Arts (THCPA) Volunteer Corps provides a great opportunity to be active in the life of our community through our Docent program.

Thalian Hall is one of several downtown stops on the New Hanover County Schools "Tarheels Go Walking" program. In this program, every 3rd-grade class in the NHC School System takes a tour of these facilities. Thalian Hall is definitely a highlight for these young people, as most of them have been introduced to our beautiful theatre and the magic of the stage through our Pied Piper Theatre during their 1st and 2nd-grade years.

Guides lead two classes of 30-50 third grade students, teachers and chaperones through the public areas of Thalian Hall and City Hall, assisted by a set of scripted notes. Tours take place as school and building schedules allow from September through April, at approximately 10:15 AM weekdays.

Volunteers who serve as docents earn points toward the Usher Corps "Top 40" incentive program.
